Two thousand eight!

We had a blast ringing in the New Year with friends and family! The "party" began at around 5:30pm, when "The David's" arrived, and the kids began their quad riding, fire-playing, sugar inhaling night. As of Sunday we didn't know where we would be celebrating New Years.....since we usually do at "The Stephen's," and this year preggers Crystal wasn't feeling up to it. We decided it'd be fun to host this year.....and the last minute planning began. BYOMeat, side dish and snack. We had way too much food, my favorite was the dutch oven cobbler for dessert (Davy's specialty). It was a great turn-out and I'm pretty sure fun was had by all! The quads were a little scary at times....and the roaming goat gave a nice red neck touch. Thanks to everyone that came and brought stuff. Oh and a classic moment was when Chad hopped into the pigs pen, and Piggy took a bite out of Chad's piggies! Ya, he screamed like a girl....as did P and Davy after they'd light each fire work, and run away....and you'd hear Davy yell, "fire in the hole!" The babies dropped like flies starting at around 9pm. Jonnie however, held strong all the way till midnight-what the!
There was seriously fire and explosives everywhere. A little scary, but the kids were in pyro heaven! Everyone brought their Christmas trees and we burned them in a giant trough (sp?). Emma, a 2nd cousin (3 years old) was in tears, "They're burning Christmas!" It was so sad. She was devastated that we were burning the trees.
At 10pm, we decided we'd do the big "firework show" for the kids, so that we could put a movie on and hope that they'd all fall asleep. Fat chance. Uncle Davy provided the "goods" which included M-80's, fireworks that lit up the sky and the ground, sparklers, and poppers. Grandma Cheryl also brought silly string, which the kids loved. I thought for sure someone was getting arrested.....I guess anything flies when you live on a "county island." Not even a ghetto bird!
Ya, as you can see....it's approaching midnight and more than half the kids were still awake. I guess Rush Hour 3 didn't quite do the job of putting the kids to sleep. Sally got her 2nd wind, when she was woken up by another baby. She cuddled right up to Cons, it was the cutest thing. We watched the ball drop in NY, and celebrated with a little bubbly and lots of smooches!
Quincy and Molly couldn't hang....and who knows how they slept through all the screaming when the clock struck midnight. I went in to take a picture of Quincy (it was pitch black in her room) and I could smell throw up. I turned her lamp on, and sure enough, she was laying in puke. I changed her clothes, and took off her bedding. There was a little in her hair, which I cleaned with a couple baby wipes....but I think she over loaded on the home made root beer and candy. She's fine and dandy today.
Ya, I'm faking it. I was up till almost 2am....I don't know what was up. I didn't want to wake up to a mess, so I decided to clean it right then. Thank goodness for concrete floors.
Conway was the last man standing. He laid down at 12:30pm, and we went outside to pick up....minutes later he comes out with his shoes and sweatshirt on. I think he finally threw in the towel a little after 1am. He battled.
Happy New Year 2008! I'm on my way to the gym-lol. See ya'll there!
