this new year, instead of making a bunch of "resolutions" (that I never follow through with, and end up being too hard on myself when I fail at) is to do things a little different. I always think long and hard about things that I want to change, or "resolve" in my life, that will ultimately make it better. I love making lists.....and do so on an almost daily basis, but so far I've written out (and then thrown away) probably ten different lists of "2008 New Years Resolutions." Why? Why is brushing and flossing twice a day, working out 30 min. 5 times a week and eating better more important than, having one on one time with each of my kids, taking a minute to say a personal prayer, or rewarding myself with a little treat if and when I want one!?! I've decided to opt. out of making that dreadful list and instead I've jotted down a few "motivators" to help live a happier and healthier life. Of course my list isn't perfect, but this year (and for now on) that's what it's going to be about. Not trying so hard to make my life "perfect," but trying harder to make it better. Doing things that make me a happier person, and surrounding myself with things that will naturally do so as well. What is "perfect" anyway? Instead of trying so hard to be the impossible, I choose to re-define. I'm going to be more positive, and direct my attention more on what I do have and show more gratitude for those things (healthy children, family and close friends). And focus less on what I don't have, how imperfect or how not together I have it. With that being said, here are a couple biggies on my so called "list" of things to help keep me motivated daily and not only through 2008, but hopefully forever!
