Lesson learned

After last years fiasco with the gingerbread houses....we decided to do things a little different this year. Last year everyone purchased their own gingerbread houses, and brought them over to Davy and Sy'ds to decorate for FHE. Most of us had gotten those kits from Costco, with the frosting and candy all included....what could be better right. Complete disaster! The frosting was SO runny, so most of our time was spent trying to get the houses to stay together. They were just too big for the little kids, and it was a huge mess. This year, Syd decided it was much easier to do the Graham cracker houses, and have them all assembled the night before. My MIL has a super simple recipe for edible glue-which is what we used for decorating. So we all brought candy, and things went much, much smoother. We learned our lesson, and look forward to next year! Thanks Davy and Syd for having the decorating party at your place, another family tradition that we all enjoy!
Notice how carefully the girls decorate their houses....between licks of course! Then check out the boys crazy table.
This picture cracks me up. Syd's Dad aka Grandpa Lee, was teasing the kids, acting as if he was going to eat their houses. As he walks by each kid, making chewing noises, and getting close to their houses. I look over and Quincy slowly and very carefully moves her house from the table to her lap, trying to hide it from him. It was hilarious.
I think Syd said she made 35 houses total. Somewhere between 25 and 35. Look how cute they all turned out! Yes Wende, you win for "Best Decorated"....taking into account that your competition ranges from ages 2-12.
