on this date...

...my little boy turned eight! parker's day of birth is july third. every year i think "how could i have not held out a few more hours during delivery!" having my first born, on my favorite holiday would have been perfect! although, that didn't happen, parker's birthday always seems to linger onto the fourth anyway. this year the fourth was on a sunday. so fireworks in utah were on saturday, which was parker's birthday, and the parade was to be on monday. parker wanted to go see "the last air bender" for his birthday, so we all went and saw that. after the movie ended parker yelled "that's a freaking rip off." everyone around us died laughing. i'm not exactly sure what that meant, but i guess it had something to do with it being a series. parker i think thought it was a rip, cus they only showed "part" of the avatar. we walked over to the mayan adventure after. my kids have never been. the food wasn't that great, but the entertainment made up for it.
the birthday dessert was the greatest thing. a chocolate brownie thing, with ice cream and a sparkler on top. the little grin on his face says it all. it totally made him feel special. he had the attention of all the tables around us, and we all sang "happy birthday!"after dinner we raced to pleasant grove. ben's brother lives there, and all my family was meeting there for the pg firework show. the next best thing to stadium of fire, minus all the traffic. i really wasn't in the mood for fighting traffic all the way from provo, and it's way more fun to be with family. maile and justin, ben and julie and their kids were all there. the house couldn't have been located in a more perfect spot. we parked in the yard, we laid in the grass, and the fireworks were literally right above us! what more could a kid ask for on his birthday, but for his own firework show! lucky guy! sunday in the canyon, yet again. this time to celebrate the birth of my oldest child! we grilled burgers, and hot dogs, and had cupcakes. i think parker too thought this birthday would be a lonely one, being in utah. it was so nice having cooper and david here, for him to hang with. there's nothing like a fourth of july in utah. especially with all your family here. dad was the only one missing of my immediate family. i think parker felt pretty special this birthday, having so many people in town to help him celebrate. i always say this, every year he get's older. and i don't think i'll ever stop saying it. i cannot believe how old my baby is getting. 8 years ago, parker made me the happiest girl on earth! i couldn't have asked for a more perfect first born. parker is the sweetest thing. he watches over his younger siblings, and of course fights with them as well. his heart is so tender, and his smile is so contagious. he was the first grandchild to the gruninger side, and the first great grandchild to both my mom's parents and my dads. he has a special place in all of our hearts. it's been a pleasure being his mother, and i hope the proud and special moments continue as he get's older. i love this little boy! on july 15th (once we were in az) grandma cheryl took parker birthday shopping. harley and casey boy also got to go, since they also have july birthday's. parker was very particular, as he always is, with what he picks out. he and cons had both wanted skateboards for their birthday's. we were waiting till we were in arizona so we could buy them from freedom. apparently parker was done waiting. so he spent $9 on one from walmart. bad idea. they ate at red robin for lunch, and then returned back to grandma karen's. later uncle garrett brought home new skate boards for both of my boys. they have been riding them around outside, trying to get good enough to brave the skate parks.
