worth it
sunday, fun day. parker had the kids pick between the U and the Y mountains to hike. 4-0, the Y won. we put on our shoes, and i made the kids all wear pants. it was a gorgeous day, with a high of 69 in provo. we filled a backpack with water bottles, and we were off. from the base of the mountain the Y seemed so far away. when you drive up to the trail head, it looks like nothing. hop, skip and a jump...ya right. the kids were just as excited as parker and i. i love that they love the outdoors. i believe i've said that before. within a few minutes quincy was asking for her hair to be pulled up. everyone was asking for water, and we were all sweating. tilley took maybe 5 of her own steps, and i piggy backed her the rest of the way up. it's a good hour hike. parker carried cons and quincy for a little bit, and little p hiked the entire way by himself. we were so proud. it was a tough hike! but so worth it. i love doing stuff as a family. we passed quite a few people on the trail, and i don't think any of them had pants on. my bad. parker definitely stresses more than i do in situations like this. although he did have the camera most of the time, wich was nice for a change. most of the pictures he took of me are from behind, go figure. he sees this picture and every time says, "i was so stressed." i have to remind him that he is the father of 4 fearless kids. conway does however, have a little more fear than the others, after his incident last memorial day (when he smashed his face at the cabin). it was amazing once we got to the top, and saw the Y. we all rested for a little bit, then hiked down to the base of the Y and looked out over the valley and at utah lake. breath taking view. after a good 10 minutes and 100 heart attacks, we headed back down. ok, so some stopped to pee off the mountain, i think they could have held it. boys will be boys.tilley did walk most of the way down by herself. parker and quincy ran the entire way down, i even tried to catch up to them at one point, but they were flying! parker put tilley on his shoulders and held cons hand and ran down. once we reached the car we got word that casey would be home soon from the hospital. we met them at their house to say hi, and then headed home for dinner. we figured nothing would make this day better, than chocolate chip cookies. and so we did. and today was perfect.
