mill creek canyon

we got rained out at mill creek canyon. not one drop of rain until we turned into the canyon and started driving in. we were the first ones there, so we picked the spot. it was amazingly gorgeous. in the beginning it was a very slight drizzle. the wrights got there a few minutes later, which is when parker tried walking across a log from one side of the river to the other and fell in. he was soaked up to his knees. next the lee's pulled up, the call's and then by the time the gardner's arrived it was pouring. huge drops of rain. we already had hot coals, and hobo dinners cooking. so we all waited it out. everything was soaked. parker was on hobo dinner duty. he kept the fire going, and kept the foil/hobo dinners flipping. the rain didn't keep us from cooking or laughing. we're hobo dinner veteran's. we've lived and learned, and have it down pat. we had some good laughs at some that this was there first time. the cabbage is the best kept secret and the gravy is what seals the deal. the wrights left shortly after their dinners came out, and most of us followed after we had filled our tummies. us and the gardner's were the last ones standing, and by that time the kids were drenched and freezing. we loaded up, and took the rest of the dinners to-go. we opted out of s'mores and just stuck with marshmallow's. soggy grahams...pass. we had a good time, like always. mill creek is closer to us, in salt lake. so it was nice not having the 30 min. drive to provo canyon. it was prettier, but maybe not as kid friendly as provo canyon. there will, however, be a next time. maybe for an over-nighter! i can't wait to get our camping stuff up here!
