my mother turned the big five-oh! a week before her b-day her friends threw her a suprise luau. it was amazing. the theme was hawaiian of course, but everyone wore black and white. my mom hates things to be revolved around her. she doesn't enjoy being center of attention, and we ALL know that. and....she's super niele. all of her closest friends and family were there. somehow we all pulled it off, and she was really suprise. she had a cantalope grin the entire night. there was amazing food, which included: chicken and beef-kabobs, chicken wings (hawaiian style), sticky rice, long rice, potato salad and fruit salad. they also made these yummy pina coladas to drink.

a luau isn't a luau without a fire dancer, a chant and of course a dance from the best hula dancer i know. my mom did the same dance that she did for my wedding.....and we all bawled while we watched. she's still got it!

the cake looked like a mini-wedding cake......and my parents looked like they were newly wed's about to slice in for the first time. my mom got lots of funny "old lady" type gifts, and lots of normal ones as well. she did look good with the glasses and the walker though. the party was "no kids," which is always fun and not. i think there should have been an acception for "cute" and "grands!"

happy 50th mom, i love you!
