here's the scoop

tilley's birthday fell on memorial day this year. we got home from the cabin at around 1pm, and began baking and frosting mini cupcakes for her party. it was a ice cream & cupcakes party, at my mom and dad's house. we had my family and parkers over. it was very simple. we had a bbq at aunt stephs at 4pm. the kids swam. they remained in their swimsuits. so the birthday party turned into a swimming party.we set up a miniature table and chairs outside for all the kids. and she opened one present early. she loves babies, and she carried her around with her...and then decided she needed to go swimming too. she loved when we started singing "happy birthday" to her. all day long we would sing, "today is tilley's birthday shout hooray!" and she would smile and clap. after we sang she sat there....all the babies stared, and then conway couldn't take it anymore. he stood on his chair and blew the candle out.at first she just stared at her cupcake....then picked it up and dug in. and looked around to make sure it was "ok." parker and my dad both made their own recipies of home-made ice cream. my dad kept saying, "you'll never want nielson's again." haha. they were both so good....but i think parker's won.she opened presents, and was actually really into it. she got a princess cell phone....which she would pretend she was talking on it. and when everyone left, she swam again. the second we got in the car she passed out. it was a good day. she definitely knew it was her special day!
i really cannot believe she is one. where has the time gone!?!? tilley had a pretty rough first year. she was such a good baby up until about 5 weeks old. which is when she first got her double ear infections. she was always miserable. they never went away until a couple months ago, when she got ear tubes. since then, we have really seen a huge change. she's been so much happier. she's more independent and alert. she isn't as clingy, which i do miss a little. she walks all over the place now. unless she's in a hurry....and she figures crawling is way faster. she has 4 teeth on top and 2 on bottom. her first word was "moo" how funny is that. when the cows "moo" in the morning, she yells it back. it's hilarious! she also says, "ma! dada! no, no! uh-oh! and ooohh! (my favorite, cus she puckers her lips)" she is such a good sleeper now, and eats way better as well. she's a mama's girl, for sure. and she definitely takes full advantage of the fact that she's the baby of the family. she is spoiled by her older siblings....and parents of course. we love this little one year old, and look forward to the years that come!
