Why TRI?

This morning I participated in the Casa Grand Triathlon. We had some classic moments, and made some good memories. A few rules to remember next time I do a Tri. 1. Decide at least a month in advance that I'm doing it, vs. 11pm the night before. 2. Don't work out the day before 3. Go to bed before 1:30am 4. Get at least 7 hours of sleep, vs. 2.5! 5. Eat breakfast 6. Remember a bike helmet 7. Don't get "off track!!!" 8. Be more prepared OVERALL!!!We all met at Lindsay's at 5:30am, and left by 6am. Since traffic was at a complete stop on the freeway, we decided to take back roads to get there. Thank goodness for people that can read maps and have a good sense of direction...cus I suck in that department. We left an hour after another group of girls, and beat them there!

Ahh Sisters! Courtney, Syd & Lindsay
We are the champions my friends....
We all finished! Thank you so much Court for driving!
Classics:
Lisa's HUGE backpack! It probably weighed more than she does! Thank you so much Lisa for letting me borrow Air Force One (her old road bike)!Lindsay's Gel seat! Hope you were nice and comfy-I feel bruised (you know where)! Borrowed Kohl (Lindsay's son's) skateboard helmet! I look 5 years old! As Courtney was approaching the finish line, she biffed it! Battle wound baby! The typical stretch pose that we would find Amy doing every time we turned around! And how could we forget....Syd's inhaler! She forgot to take a hit before the run, and was dying! Poor Syd, she can not live without it!
So we started out by swimming 400 meters. The water was SO warm, which I had not planned on. I wore a long sleeve rash guard, which made my arms so incredibly heavy. I did my swim a min. slower than I usually do it-bug. Then the bike is 10 miles. This was my first Tri. so naturally I just follow whoever is in front of me. We had been biking for a good 32. min. when all the sudden a handful of people start turning around in the middle of the road-CHEATERS! The rest of us continued on...for a good 5 or more minutes. A car drives up and tells us we are 3 miles off the path! WHAT THE H! I was so pist. So we have to turn around, and bike the 3 miles back out to get on track, then finish on the correct path. Nothing was marked, I was so annoyed. So 16 miles, and 58 min. later......we were to the run. I got off my bike and my legs were jello. I thought do I quit now, since I biked 6 extra miles....or finish the race. I'm so not a quitter. By this point it was so bloody hot, and remember I still have the long sleeve rash guard on. It's November folks-why is it still 100 degrees! I did better than I thought in the run, and was very glad to cross the finish line. I always love how they have fresh fruit and cold drinks for you after a race. They even got fancy at this one and had Egg McMuffin type things, and bagels w/ cream cheese! I can't wait till the next Tri., it was so fun....and I am dying to get an accurate time!
