Tailgate Party & A Tow Truck

Yesterday was the big ASU vs. CAL football game. We decided to Tailgate for the big event, and you'd never know that we were rookies! We met at Davy and Syd's at 3:30pm, and before leaving to the game we got to be a part of a very special event. Hillary Worthen got her mission call! BOSTON (her Mom guessed it!) and she leaves December 19th (I guessed it-Quincy's b-day)! It was such a fun thing to witness, the spirit was so strong and the tears were a flowin'. Congratulations Hills! Ok-we better get going....seating arrangements are as follows: Jon's beast: Jon & Summer and all the Tailgating goods. My mini van: Parker, Davy, Tills, Lance, Me & Syd. The others met up with us later. First stop...Ned's, which is where we got the 8 foot sub and I where I got my gear for tonight's game. Next stop....Native New Yorker-for the wings of course! Circle K-to gas up, and load all the ice chests with ice. Next....TMG (The Mahoney Group) which is where we picked up the tickets and the "beverages." Ok, then it was time to get focused....when we got close we ditched the mini van, under the bridge and all climb into Jon's beast.....then drove a mile to the ASU parking lot....which is where we made our final stop. We quickly unloaded, and started setting up. Parker did his magic, and volla....we had satellite TV! Kemra and I are so lucky.....we have the cutest cargo around. Little Cohen and Tilley were so good, and definitely attracted the most attention in the ASU parking lot. Cohen is such a trooper with his little hat, and Kemra is so cute to paint it for the occasion. Too bad these cuties are related, or they'd make for one cute couple in their ASU attire! Lance always wins for "favorite uncle," and tonight took home the prize for the best ASU gear as well (I was a very close 2nd with my "I know Ned shirt"). His shirt was perfect for tonight's game, and only cost $5 at Walmart! It read: BEAT CAL! Which we did beautifully! There was a man walking around painting faces for "tips." A couple of the guys knew the old guy, so they traded him a plate full of food instead of money! Since all of the girls thought they were "too cool" to get their faces painted, I volunteered Tilley instead. Is that lame that I really wanted to get mine done? Brianna was so cute, and is one of the ultimate die hard ASU fans. Her and Buck NEVER miss a game! "What the Buck!?!" Parker & I were invited to Noah & Jill's Halloween party....and had decided to go as die hard ASU fans. Then we got to thinking.....if we were true ASU fans, we'd be at the biggest game of the season, not at a Halloween party.... Sorry Noah and Jill, I really wanted to go, but not without Parker. I hope you were able to have a little bit of fun without us-hard I know.
This is what us Mormons drink at a Tailgate party....IBC baby (and bottled Grape, Orange and Strawberry Crush)! I thought it was funny when I glanced back and saw these 3 sippin' on their root beer. We always love seeing Adam and Chad at the games....of course I wish their "better halves" were with them. Parker has been friends with these boys since Jr. High, they are always so goofy when they are together, I love it! I had gone to the game ticket less...planning on sitting out in the parking lot with "Big Guy" and Tilley the entire game. Luckily these girls were there to keep me company for most of the first half! When KK arrived, by bike-carriage (almost at 1/2 time), is when most of the crowd headed for the stadium. This is when the fun begins! So, Davy has a season parking pass, which is right next to 2 other family members spots. We set up our Tailgate party in one of the 3 spots, and almost at 1/2 time the person who holds the parking pass to the spot next to our set up (not family) FINALLY decided to show up...he calls himself a fan!?! He wasn't happy about our little shin dig, or the fact that Jon's beast was parked over the line that divided his spot and ours. We quickly move all our stuff, and Jon get's into his truck to move it. Which is when his steering column snapped. The tires wouldn't move....he could only go forward and back. The guy trying to park was such a jerk; we had him park a couple spots over (family members spot) and promised him he wouldn't get towed. He did and then huffed and puffed as he walked away with his 3 small boys. AAA was then called, and an hour later Hazzard Towing came and loaded Jon's beast. Davy then took a taxi to get the mini van to replace the beast...and the party carried on. We of course all felt so bad for Jon & Summer, as they drove away in the tow truck :(
We didn't let that get us down. ASU came back strong in the 2nd half....our 7 min. delay was great. We'd listen to see if we could hear the crowd either "boo" or "cheer" and we'd try and guess what was about to happen. Davy & Syd, Dillard and P were having so much fun they decided to hang in the parking lot the entire game and forfeit their lodge tickets (they could have sold them for $100 a piece-sorry to rub it in guys). Big Guy and I were just too much fun they couldn't leave us ;) A few other fans finally realized where the real party was at and decided to join us. Tailgate Tom (who aparantly is a tailgating legend) and his posse had one too many to drink....but were fun to have around. ASU beat Cal 20-31, and we all went home happy; tired, but happy.....in the mini van. Big Guy and D3, on top of all the others that originally rode in the mini van made for a very snug ride home. The weather was perfect, and the ambiance in the parking lot made for a night we will never forget! It was Classic!
