so long...

...sandy elementary, 2010. hello summer! i have been counting down the days till "summer," cus it wasn't official till parker's last day. which was today. the weather has been gorgeous, 70-80 degrees all week long. i couldn't be happier. last week we met at the school, and walked with the kindergartners to the park. quincy had her p party, and they did their piggy opera performance. she loves to sing, and has a great memory when it comes to lyrics. the kids played on the playground for a little bit and we walked back to the school. then they had pizza, soda pop, popcorn and popsicles. it was also spirit week, and they had fun dressing crazy all week long. it happened to be crazy hair day the day of their performance, which may explain all the funny hair do's. quincy wanted to ride the bus home, so instead of checking her out early we met her there. the school carnival was a blast. quincy wanted to go right at 4, so she could throw a pie at her teachers face. her and parker both tried and missed. we got food first, nachos and soda pop. i love nachos, and so do my kids. i love kid food, i'm not into fancy. they did however also have a little taco stand with home made tamales, and carne asada tacos. when parker got there, we had round two of dinner. he will never pass up a little taco stand. even if it's on the side of the road. "those are the best ones," he says. and it reminds us of az. quincy and parker both performed at their scheduled times. quincy sang all the words, while she danced. we laughed so hard while parker did the chicken dance. because he was wearing his snow boots, and because he was so embarrassed to do the end part where he had to lock arms with a girl. gross, cooties!the face painting was a joke. it was a bunch of kids running the booth. quincy asked for a dog, and she looks like a bunny or something. and tilley wanted 2 flowers, and the little boy that did it, had to start over 3 times. quincy's itched her face, so it didn't last any way. good thing we waited in line for a good 30 minutes. oh well, every carnival has to have it, and every little girl wants to get it done. after that they hit up every craft booth possible. and since tilley likes to roam, and i didn't bring a stroller, i had to stick with the girls. after 5 minutes of being here, i go in panic mode after tilley has strayed away from my side while giving the boys the rules. i hear over the speakers, "a little girl, with cute pigtails, probably 2 years old, with a pink dress on, says her name is shelly, is lost and is at the sound booth." i tell the other 3 not to move and make a mad dash for my tilley monster. pie eating contest, or whip cream eating contest was a bust. there were some big dudes in this contest. my little cons didn't stand a chance. then quincy did the watermelon eating contest, and since she's missing half her teeth it was more for fun. and cus she loves watermelon. each age group did a potato sac race. which took me back to my childhood and our july's spent in canada. the 24th of july is their Independence day celebration, and i remember doing the sac races, and kicking all the boys trash. my dad's head was always held high after the sac and the 3 legged races.kindergarten graduation. they performed a good 15 songs and dances. it was cute, but long. by the end you could tell all the little kids were tired. quincy went from shouting, for everyone in the back row to hear, to whispering, or moving her lips. it was her last day of school, and she was so excited when her teacher wore the apple necklace she had given her days before. she again opted for her last bus ride home. and she is officially a first grader! my kids are getting so old!coach pitch season should have ended last week. they have so many make up games from all the times they were rained out. we still have a couple more to go, and it's so nice out that we can actually enjoy sitting and watching. parker has such a good solid hit every time. he does great at short stop too. he actually gets the game, which most of the kids out there don't have a clue. he has had so much fun, we cant wait to get him on a better league next season. till then, we're ready for swimming and sun tans!
