our family tri's

for presidents day we planned a mini family triathlon. 3pm we were to meet at mom's. we were there with bells on. i hadn't trained; although i don't think anyone else did either, and just came off the 10 day cleanse...so i knew it wouldn't be too pretty. plus it was me against 5 boys. good luck! we ran first, 2 miles. it was bad. i need to start doing that regularly again. then we biked 6 miles, well most of us. of course it was my first time doing the route and it wasn't marked...so i got lost. what's new. i did an extra 2 miles...whatever. and last was the swim. everyone was already there when i got there, but swimming is my strongest of the 3 events.my little athletes! cons wore his running shoes that day and his swim suit. if we would have let him do the race with us, he would have. quincy and leis just wanted to go swimming, and why not, it's feburary! leis wasn't sure if she was in a leotard or a swimsuit. haha, strike a pose! ben came in last for the run, but is by far the fastest, strongest biker. he passed all of us but parker up, he was too far in the lead from the run, that he couldn't catch him.michael, i mean parker, took home the gold. great job babe. he did the course 2 days the week before with anthony, but besides that didn't train at all. he told me in the beginning his only goal was to beat me. we're not competitive at all! right. funny thing is, he swam 10 laps and then thought he was done with a 500. he was so tired, he stopped and took his goggles off, until everyone yelled to him he had 10 more laps. he was on his last lap when i got there.ben took home the silver, and was congratulated by his little sweets, marley! ben recently lost 50 pounds. zang! the meadows were having a "biggest loser" challenge, and ben shed pounds like it was nobody's business! great job benny! bronze for me. next time the gold is mine! not bad for being out of shape and the only girl eh! i wish i could have represented a little better for the girls of the family. thanks for those who watched my kids, and hopefully next time we won't have so many by standers...preggs is not an excuse..haha! tony tone came in 4th leaving justin and my dad to eat his bubbles! tony is such a good sport. him and parker are always coming up with crazy games and things to do just to try and beat each other. he's even done the turkey trot with us a few times. he's so "go with the flow" and we love that about him.j is so not a swimmer, he said he never even learned how to swim as a child. what a shame. i think it's in our hawaiian blood to swim. my mom learned to swim before she was 1, as did all her siblings, and i was really young too. we're going to work on it this summer justin! justin came in 2nd for the run, whatever! he too hadn't trained at all...how do they do that!last place with a huge grin! i love it! my dads feet were cramping up throughout the entire swim. half the time he even did back stroke. i'm sure he'll do better next time, to clear his name of being last. i'm proud of him, the oldest in the race, and did so great! he's in great shape for an "old guy." occasionally my dad and i go running and every time he says, "i hope you don't have to do cpr on me." and of course he always keeps up. he smoked me in the run this time! we plan the next race for april...and hope to have more competitors!
