the master cleanse

we've all heard about it. and probably even contemplated trying it. i had done so a number of times. since it's one of the rare times that i'm not pregnant or nursing...i gave it a try. it's ten days long, and i'm proud to say i stuck it out. it's actually not that bad. especially if you can make it to day 4. i did lose 11 pounds of toxins, not to be confused with body fat. i'm happy to say i've put half of that back on. i read the book, which is really interesting. i'm happy i did it, and plan to at least once a year. i felt so good after, i think everyone should do it! the daily diet went as follows:
salt water flush=1 liter of water, 2 tsp. un-iodized sea salt
(every morning)
lemonade=10 oz. filtered water, 2 Tbl. grade B maple syrup, 2 Tbl. organic lemon juice (1/2 a lemon), 1/10 tsp. (couple dashes) cayenne pepper
(6-12 glasses throughout the day)
herbal laxative tea, caffeine free
(every night)
the salt water flush is by far the hardest part of the cleanse...i got it down to 2 chuggs by the end. the lemonade actually tastes good, it just has a spicy after-taste. there is enough nutrients in the lemonade for you to live off of. the diet was created years ago by a doctor, and was used as a "cure-all." it completely flushes your internal organs. your organs are covered with acids, and this flushes it all...or so i read. the laxative tea isn't bad either, i don't like hot drinks, so i usually made it and then waited for it to cool, and then just chugged it. it was a long 10 days, filled with lots of temptations, but i held strong. i did it with a friend, which did make it easier also. oh and ps...don't leave your house for an hour after the saltwater flush...and don't fart. sounds sick, but that was the best advice i got on the first day i started.
