muchos gracias

thanksgiving day we drove to mexico. my family goes all the time, but it had been 2 years since we had been last. my mom, tony and us drove up together. my dad stayed home to prepare his talk for sunday, and garrett had to work. we sure did miss them. all 6 kids rode the banana boat. and i got a nice boat ride . we were introduced to this yummy taco stand by tony (mayor of rocky point). and we continued to dine there every night after. the chicas loved us. it was usually just us eating there....which i don't know if that's good or bad....now that i think about it. they had the yummiest pico de gallo. the senorita even gave me a little "to go" bag of it. i love when hispanic's try and speak english and american's try and speak spanish....neither with the correct accent or pronunciation. and thrifty followed every meal of course. one of the girls had a crush on parker, he always got heaping scoops of ice cream, and mine were teeny. my kids definitely take after their dad and have a love for iced cream. my mom has a tradition of getting fresh tortillas the first morning we are there. she makes bacon, egg and cheese breakfast burritos with her famous home made salsa for dipping. she's very loyal to her favorite tortillaria. we came across another, which i do admit i liked better. it was more lardy, instead of floury. mmmm.jet ski's, braids, skim boards & sand. can't think of anything better..........the arrival of cam and mele of course! they got there saturday morning. my mom watched the kids while tony, cam & mele, park and i went in for a "date" night. tacos and thrifty, third times a charm. sunday already. it was short but sweet. laying on the beach, getting a tan and enjoying 80 degrees in november. sounds like heaven to me.on the ride home little parker asked why all the "brown people" would say "hola amigos." parker and i were laughing so hard. we explained what it meant as we drove across the boarder and back to the u s of a hasta la vista!
