co p.o.y. & green thumbs

last week we had but yet, another excuse to gather together as family. they were announcing the mountian west player of the year (p.o.y.). uncle lee was a nominee. parker hardly slept a wink that night. he tossed and turned, and then eventually ended up on the couch. only minutes till they announced...and two of parkers brothers share that they already knew who won. parker who had been patiently holding out was on the phone trying to get a hold of lee from then on out. of course lee won. we knew he would. although he shared the glory with a senior from New Mexico, J.R. Giddens, we were still so happy. it made getting off work early, and getting the kids out for a half day all worth it.

Since we were all together, it was the perfect opportunity to spend family night together. starting a garden, harvesting all the oranges off the trees, and making some "fresh squeezed". the kids helped with both. it was such a nice day out, and almost almost everyone was there helping. i think we ended up with 18 gallons of OJ!Tilley crashed and burned early on in the evening. she fell off the kids table, and had a huge knot on her forehead as well as some pretty big scratches by her eye.while digging the garden, they found huge slugs. of course calee was the only grandchild that would touch one. grandma cheryl then called all the kids over to watch them "shrink," aka die. when you pour salt on them, their bodies begin shrinking instantly..... the kids were amazed; grandma cheryl is a magician. last night they finished the garden. they made rows, and planted seeds. such a fun thing for the kids to be involved with. eventually, when things start sprouting, they will see the result of their hard work, and helping hands.
