grandma cheryl has an
orchard in her
backyard. she loves to
share. she has one
rule. whatever you pick, or squeeze, she get's
half. we usually get together once a year and have a
"harvesting party.
" we pick, wash, cut, squeeze and
divide into gallon jugs. everyone who
helps goes home
one gallon richer.
parker decided this year we, "
the parker cummards," would go over
once a week and
squeeze 2 gallons (2 crates=3 gallons).
one for us. and you guessed it...
one for cheryl. my husband is a
genius. we've taken home
3 full gallons so far....
cheryl loves it, as do we. we've mastered this
assembally line.
i wash and cut, and take the rines out when the bowl is full.
parker squeezes and
tries to regulate ,
little p and cons switch off sifting the first strainer with a spoon, which is then dumped into the second strainer-where
quincy sifts. then we all take bites of the
"good pulp," and the juice is
dumped into the gallon jugs.
tilley watches, and
gnaws on rines.
"harvesting party..." to come soon.
the fruits of our labor! mmm we love that sweet nectar!
